Frequently Asked Questions
How often will I meet with my speech therapist?
Sessions are typically scheduled once a week.
Would a speech evaluation be needed?
Yes, unless you already have a recent one from another speech therapist.
What would speech therapy be like for my child?
I absolutely love doing speech therapy with children! We interact and play together using books, pictures, and toys. I ask your child to copy me or answer simple questions about the things we have in front of us. I always use a ton of hands-on activities.
What would stuttering therapy be like for me as a person who stutters?
First we would explore what stuttering is like for you in order to find out where and when it most interferes with your life. Then we would talk about your goals for speech therapy. These can include speaking with less stuttering, feeling good about talking, and how to help the people in your life better understand the facts and myths surrounding stuttering.
As a person who stutters, should I try different techniques for working with my stutter on my own?
Absolutely. Literally anything you can come up with that you feel may be helpful to you is fine. You can not make your speech worse. Feel free to play around with different techniques.
